Bangkok - Thailand’s City of Angels
One of Asia’s most cosmopolitan cities was founded as
the Thai capital in 1782 by the first monarch of the present Chakri
dynasty.
Motto: Bangkok,glorious as if created by angles,the
administrative centre, beautiful temples, glittering palaces, the
capital of Thailand.
Attractions in and around Bangkok
1. Royal Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the
Emerald Buddha): Encompassing over 200 years of royal history,
this inner-city riverine landmark contains several buildings with
highly detailed architectural features. Wat Phra Kaew within the
same compound, is a treasure house of Thai arts, and houses the
Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddha image in Thailand.
2. Wat Pho: The oldest and largest temple in Bangkok and
features the largest reclining Buddha in Thailand.
3. Wat Benchamabophit: This unique Marble Temple
employs European ecclesiastic details, such as stained glass
windows, and contains a superb cloister collection of bronze
Buddha images.
