Aquamarine is March’s birthstone. It is a variety of beryl like Emerald. Though

it comes in many colors (pale blue, greenish to deep blue), the most prized is a rich, clear,

waterly blue. It is often heat treated to bring out its blue hue. Aquamarine is named after the

Greek word for seawater and is known as the “Gem of the sea” Legend tells that it is the

treasure of mermaids, has the power to keep sailors safe at sea. Also it has long been

considered the symbol of happiness and everlasting youth.

Diamond, the birthstone for April, is the world’s most famous gemstones. High

quality diamond needs to have clear white color, flawless and well proportioned cut there

by allowing it to shine and bringing out its beauty. Apart from commonly used white diamond,

certain types of diamonds can have various colors such as yellow, pink, blue and black.

Diamond comes from the Greek word “Adamas” which means unbreakable. It has the highest

hardness of any other gemstone. Although usually thought of as the jewel of love and power,

diamond also has special powers for people born in April. It strengthens their body and

soul, and helps protect their innocence and bring out their best qualities.
